Canik METE Series SFT Gets Exclusive Sports South Finishes

[ad_1]

Last year we reported on the METE series from Canik (below), including both the SFX and SFT. The pistols appreciated immediate popularity, due to their accuracy, ease of operation and overall aesthetics. And now, Sports South focuses on expanding the aesthetics of the SFT with a line of five exclusive finishes.

The Canik METE Series SFT Gets Five Exclusive New Finishes

Featuring a synthetic polymer frame, the METE SFT is crafted with meticulous attention to detail for excellent performance. In addition, the optic cut slide allows users to direct mount the Trijicon RMRcc and other optics with that footprint. A flared magwell makes loading the 18- or 20-round magazines fast and intuitive.

In short, the METE SFT is a solid performing pistol that has earned its popularity since its release. However, it doesn’t just run well, it also has a solid form factor and aesthetics Canik fans appreciate.

For this reason, Sports South offers five different finishes to further enhance the already great look of the SFT. The finishes not only enhance the overall aesthetic but provide a protective layer against wear and tear.

1 – Arctic Splinter

Providing a cool (pun intended) Arctic appeal, the Arctic Splinter is inspired by Arctic environments. Featuring a combination of cool blues and whites, the finish is reminiscent of frozen landscapes. Likewise, the broken pattern gives the Arctic Splinter pattern a shattered ice look.

2 – Arctic Digital Camo

Inspired by digital camouflage patterns used in military applications, the Arctic Digital Camo mixes style and practicality. The finish offers a mix of icy blues and whites set off by contrasting black controls, barrel, trigger, and sights. Additionally, it adds another level of concealment to your loadout in winter tactical scenarios.

3 – Arctic Distressed

With its weathered and battle-worn appearance, the Arctic Distressed finish adds character to your SFT. Likewise, the worn finish adds a level of vintage elegance and is slightly reminiscent of a Star Wars Stormtrooper pistol. But don’t worry, it’s a Canik Mete SFT, so you’ll actually hit what you’re aiming at.

4 – Dark Cyber

In a new digital world of the interwebs, the Dark Cyber finish provides an edgy, futuristic aesthetic. The dark tones and metallic accents make it perfect for the cyber security professional who likes all things digital. However, the only thing digital about this pistol is the finish, no smart gun garbage here.

5 – Grey Bomber

Paying homage to bomber pilots of World War II is the Grey Bomber finish. Featuring muted grey tones, the subdued shark face and star of the P-40 Warhawk accentuate the background. In addition, the lines of the METE SFT are highlighted by a series of rivets reminiscent of the WWII fighter plane.

On February 9, 2022, Jay Langston reported:

It was a veritable gun buffet. A horde of new-hungry Athlon Outdoors gun scribes gathered once again in the Teton Valley last October to get a taste of what’s new in the gun world at the annual Rendezvous. A couple of items of note were the Canik METE series, with the METE SFX and METE SFT.

The Canik METE Series

Imported by Century Arms from Turkey, the METE is a polymer-framed, striker-fired 9mm with enough accessories to make TV pitchman Billy Mays proud. When you flip the lid on the METE’s polymer hard-side case you’ll find small, medium, and large grip extensions, a paddle holster, three magazines, flared magwell, mag loader, punch, and in the words of pitchman Bill, “There’s more!”

Canik got a leg up in the handgun market a few years ago with their initial offering, their TP9SA model for under $400. I got to visit with Canik importer Century Arms’ Adam Ruonala to get the skinny on the new Canik.

Based near the Turkish mountain bearing its name, Canik has been a significant player in the aerospace defense industry for 22 years, 12 of which as a significant firearms manufacturer. The new METE series incorporates changes, like an integrally flared mag-well, aggressive texturing, a double undercut trigger guard, a low-profile slide stop lever, and angled rear sight.

Digging a little deeper, the METE offers a very impressive trigger pull. As good as any striker-fired pistol you can find. The low-profile magazine release is ambidextrous, too.

A three-dot front-and-rear sight combination is pretty standard fare, but the METE offers a co-witnessing optics-ready slide cut, too.  Remove the cover plate and you can mount a Trijicon RMRcc or several other micro-optics. Another prime feature of the METE is the internals of this pistol are held together with a series of pins. Hence the included punch to make quick mods of clean up after a day of range work.

Great Looking Affordable Option

The METE offers a pretty cool look, too, with its two-tone styling. The slide, with front and rear serrations, is Ceracote black. The frame is FDE polymer. Ready to mount a weapon light, well, the METE offers a Pic rail, too.

A little trigger time with the METE didn’t disappoint, either. I got to put a half dozen 18-round mags through the pistol without a hiccup. The METE won’t bust the budget, either. When you can find them (rest assured Canik is building and shipping as fast as possible), the METE will have an MSRP of $519.99 (METE SFT) or $574.99 (METE SFX).
