A good, solid EDC gun means different things to different people. For fans of the 1911, the standard refinements have become pretty well known. A new pair of Dan Wesson compact 1911s check a whole bunch of boxes, purpose-built for everyday carry.

Dan Wesson Compact 1911s

The Enhanced Compact Pistol (ECP) and Tactical Compact Pistol (TCP) come built for reliability, ergonomics and weight, according to Dan Wesson. Each model comes in both 9mm and .45 ACP configurations.

The ECP comprises a traditional 1911 design with modern styling and enhancements. It sports a stainless steel slide and forged aluminum frame. The overall weight comes in at just 29 ounces. Tapered G10 grips and a bobbed mainspring housing enhance ergonomics. Meanwhile, a tri-topped slide features aggressive slide serrations for grip. The top rib knows down glare. Finally, the U-notch rear sight mates with a brass bead front sight for fast acquisition.

The TCP brings the same performance elements of the ECP, adding tactical features with a 1913 Picatinny rail and one-piece flared magwell. The pistol features a compact stainless tri-topped slide and aggressive slide serrations. The top rip cuts down glare, while the U-notch rear sight and brass bead front provide the sight picture. The TCP’s grips utilize a tapered profile–slim at the top and full-width at the bottom. The pistol weighs in at 32 ounces.

Both pistols feature a match-grade 4-inch barrel with a 30-degree crown. The recoil system uses a flat wire recoil spring rated for 15,000 rounds, according to Dan Wesson.

Prices start at $1,705. For even more info, please visit danwessonfirearms.com.
