We’re a big fan of what Mossberg is doing with the turkey guns of late. Back in January, we raved over the introduction of the Mossberg 940 Pro Turkey. Now the company has done it again for pump-gun fans. Three new variants of Mossberg pump-action turkey guns bring serious game-getting features to diehard turkey hunters.
Mossberg Pump-Action Turkey Guns
The new optic-ready platforms join the company’s 500 and 835 Ulti-Mag pump lines. Already packed with solid hunting options, the new offerings deliver robust shotguns featuring receiver cut for low-profile, directing mounting of microdot sights. The shotguns utilize the popular Shield RMSc pattern. Each gun comes fully camouflaged in Mossy Oak Greenleaf, a popular pattern. The 500 Turkey Optic-Ready comes in .410 bore and 20 gauge. Meanwhile, the 835 Ulti-Mag Turkey Optic-Ready comes as a 12-gauge, 3.5-inch platform.
In our experience, Mossberg pump guns flat out run. The design features include non-binding twin action bars and dual extractors. You get steel-to-steel lock-up and an anti-jam elevator. An anodized aluminum receiver sports Mossberg’s signature ambidextrous, top-mounted safety.
Each optics-ready gun comes with extended choke tubes, welcome in field conditions. A fiber-optic front sight pairs with a drilled and tapped receiver. Sling swivel studs and a 5+1 overall capacity round out the standard options. An installed cover plate protects when not using a red dot.
