Rock Island Auction: Wild Bill Pistol, Lara Croft HKs & More

Historians believe the Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 Old Army Revolver belonged to Wild Bill Hickok, according to Rock Island Auction. A reported favorite of Wild Bill, historians suggest this is the sidearm the famous lawman carried the night of his murder over a poker table in Deadwood, South Dakota. The pre-auction estimate ranges from $150K to $350K.

Historians believed the Wild Bill pistol was carried by Hickok the night he died.

The Han Solo Blaster, a BlasTech DL-44 Heavy Blaster, officially, comes from “Star Wars: A New Hope.” The prop began life as a Mauser C96 broom handle pistol, modified with a WWII-era scope and a machine gun muzzle. Carried by Harrison Ford in the film, it remains an iconic, recognizable movie gun from classic cinema. It brings a pre-auction estimate of $300K to $500K.

The Han Solo Blaster comes from the first movie of the franchise.

The Blaster brings some interesting history in its own right. Considered missing and lost, replacement Blaster’s were built for subsequent movies. The “Return of the Jedi” Blaster sold at auction in 2018 for $550,000. Star Wars memorabilia continues to bring huge values. An R2D2 went for $2.75 million in 2017, while an X-wing miniature prop sold for $2.3 million in June, according to Rock Island. So this final Blaster could bring some serious coin in the upcoming auction.

Finally, this auction features a pair of pistols used by Angelina Jolie in the titular role in “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.” Jolie famously double-fisted the HK USP 9 Match pistols, bringing the video game to live animation. The pistols, reportedly the main ones from the movie, are sequential. They each feature unique ambidextrous slide releases. Other mods include barrels designed for firing blanks and extended magazine wells. The pre-auction estimate ranges from $25K to $45K.

A pair of HK USP 9 Match pistols helped bring Lara Croft to the big screen.

The auction runs from Aug. 26-28. Check out the full offering for Auction #86 at rockislandauction.com.
