Ruger recently announced the latest addition to the iconic Super Redhawk line of revolvers–.22 Hornet. The new Super Redhawk aims squarely at varmint hunters and long-range revolver shooters.
Ruger Super Redhawk in .22 Hornet
The new Super Redhawk spots a 9.5-inch cold hammer-forged barrel to squeeze all the accuracy out of the .22 Hornet. The barrel wears a replaceable HiViz green insert front sight, paired with an adjustable rear sight. A Hogue Tamer Monogrip provides a sure purchase. The grip utilizes an internal recoil cushion positioned under the web of the hand to reduced the strains of felt recoil.
A triple-locking cylinder locks into the frame at the front, rear and bottom in Ruger’s design. The beefy frame utilizes extra metal in the top strap, sidewalls and barrel-mounting areas, long a staple of the Super Redhawk. The peg-style grip frame accommodates accessory or custom grips as well. Internally, a transfer bar mechanism provides assurance against accidental discharge. Finally, integral mounts machined directly onto the barrel rib provide a mounting surface for included scope rings, a welcome addition.
The .22 Hornet Super Redhawk retails for around $1,500. For more info, visit ruger.com.

Editor’s Take:
You gotta love a big ol’ honkin’ revolver. We’ve seen a resurgence of late in popularity when it comes to long-barreled revolvers chambered in rimfire and small-caliber cartridges. They serve multiple roles as primary varmint dispatchers, small-game hunters, and all-around fun range guns. They can also pull double-duty for defense should they be needed. Ruger’s Super Redhawk has long been a favorite, and we applaud bringing in the hot .22 Hornet into the lineup. It should make for a deadly field gun.
