Savage Stevens 560 Shotguns Bring Serious Value!

In this age of $1,500 semi-auto shotguns–many of which offer tremendous capability–we try to pay special attention to the more affordable entries into the market. The Savage Stevens 560 line comprises exactly that. Announced earlier this year, Savage is now shipping this field-grade line of working sporting guns–all priced just south of $500!

Value-driven to be sure, the 560 comes chambered in 12 gauge. The 3-inch, gas-operated shotguns ship with three choke tubes: improved cylinder, improved modified and full. Each comes with a hard chrome lined barrel fitted to a lightweight aluminum alloy receiver. A manual safety and oversized controls should make for an easy manual of arms. A raised ventilated rib with included mid-bead and fiber-optic should help keep shooters on target. A Turkish walnut stock and forend round out the package.

We can get pretty gun snobbish here in the gun writer world. And we know it. When you get to test and evaluate the industry’s best, you tend to look high-end for new guns and gear. But we try not to sleep on value guns either, because we certainly appreciate a good value when we see it. A sub-$500 shotgun makes us happy, and we’ve all seen the wave of Turkish imports proving that economical shotguns can indeed run reliably and true.
