Taurus GX4 Carry Finds the Balance Between Capacity and Carry

[ad_1]

Taurus USA has really created quite a stir in the industry over the past few years with all the new pistols it has released. It all started with the TX-22, then went to the G3 lineup. The company quickly answered the call of the concealed carry crowd and came out with the GX4. And now, Taurus provides more capacity with its latest GX4 Carry.

The Taurus GX4 Carry

Over the years, we have seen the GX4 evolve with some new variants that have been fantastic. But now, Taurus USA has proudly announced the launch of the Taurus GX4 Carry. It is the latest addition to the award-winning GX4 series.

Setting itself apart from its micro-compact sibling, the Taurus GX4 Carry boasts a larger but compact frame. As a result, it delivers the perfect balance of capacity and concealability for anyone carrying the gun.

Pretty much think of this gun as a souped-up GX4 XL. The completely new polymer frame very closely resembles the smaller frame of the original pistol. However, it has a little more length added to the grip portion of the gun.

The Taurus GX4 Carry.

That longer grip ensures the shooter will have a very sure full-hand purchase on the pistol during shooting. It also allows for easier draws under stress. Likewise, Taurus didn’t let any space go to waste and was able to pack 2 extra rounds into the magazines for this longer grip. This gives you 2-15 round magazines with a beveled and angled base pad on them for easier concealability.

Taurus also added a small finger indexing bump into the middle of the longer grip. This gives you a more ergonomic feel than the original GX4. On the front of the new frame, you’ll find a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny Rail, which is a great addition to a carry gun. This adds versatility by allowing the shooter to accessorize the gun with their favorite light or laser.

That pic rail also aids in balancing the GX4 a little better. Specifically by adding a small amount of heft up front to offset the extra rounds in the magazine.

Shooting the GX4 Carry

Inside the frame is a flat face, serrated polymer shoed trigger. As far as I am concerned it is one of the best on the market at this price point. It has a mild take-up with a clean, crisp, short break once you hit the wall.

Follow-up shots are easy, thanks to the short, extremely smooth trigger reset. Correspondingly, the longer frame aids in recoil management. You can also swap the magazine release button, depending on your preference.

The frame has easy-to-swap backstraps for customizing the pistol to each shooter and comes with three backstraps to choose from. Additionally, the slide is the same slide as the GX4 XL with a set of industry-standard steel iron sights.

The sight channel has been cut to accept sights from Glock pistols. So, if you want to change them out, there are plenty of options already on the market for you. A 3.06-inch DLC-Coated Barrel offers strong durability and performance even in any shooting environment.

If you are in the market for a new carry gun, then Taurus may have the perfect option for you with the new GX4 Carry. With an MSRP of only $504.99, this gun will not break the bank. However, it will offer an extremely reliable pistol that you can count on every day.
