Long live the lever-gun! Marlin made a big announcement today, marking the return of the popular 1895 Trapper rifle. Chambered in the iconic .45-70 Gov’t, the 1895 Trapper brings a bruising, capable big-game hunter back to the Marlin stable. And at first glance, the package looks perfect for most big-game hunting pursuits.

Marlin 1895 Trapper Details

Last year, the Model 1895 kicked off the Ruger era of Marlin Firearms. Now the 1895 Trapper returns, featuring a receiver, lever and trigger guard plate CNC machined from 416 stainless steel forgings. Meanwhile, the barrel utilizes 410 stainless steel, hammer-forged for ultra-precise rifling, delivering accuracy and durability, according to Marlin. The threaded barrel comes with a thread protector over 11/16″-24 pattern, accommodating muzzle brakes or other accessories.

All of the stainless steel components come with a non-shiny, satin finish. It should stand up well in the elements. Adjustable Skinner sights include a receiver-mounted peep for fast acquisition. A five-round, tubular magazine and loading gate feed the system.

The 1895 Trapper includes many features familiar to lever-gun fans. It comes with a push-button, cross-bolt manual safety. A traditional half-cock hammer should appeal to many lever-gun hunters.

The 1895 Trapper comes chambered in 45-70.

A laminate buttstock and forend bring familiar styling with modern refinements for hard use. It comes with sharp checkering for a sure grip. Finally, an oversized loop, spiral-fluted, nickel-plated bolt, slimmed down forend and sling swivel studs round out this impressive package.

The Marlin 1895 Trapper retails for $1,349. For even more info, please visit marlinfirearms.com.
