The Wilson Combat SFT9 Lightrail Adds Light Options to the 1911

Known for its high-quality 1911’s, Wilson Combat released its SFT9 double stack 9mm last year. Now, almost one year later, the company expands on the platform by adding even more flexibility. The release of the SFT9 Lightrail from Wilson Combat brings weapon-light compatibility to the already popular pistol.

The Wilson Combat SFT9 Lightrail

Constructed of precision machined T6-7075 aluminum on computer-controlled machining, the SFT9 features a one-piece solid frame. As a result, the frame design is rugged and maintains a thin 1.155-inch footprint. Correspondingly, the reduced diameter, along with the TRAK grip strap texture, ensures improved recoil control and reduced muzzle flip.

Riding atop the solid frame is the Commander length slide, precisely machined in-house. The slide houses the 4.25-inch Match-Grade Bushing style barrel, chambered in 9mm, and hand-fit by Wilson Combat gunsmiths. Keeping with Wilson Combat quality standards, the barrel features a fluted chamber and flush-cut reverse crown.

The slide features wide-cut forward and rear cocking serrations for easy slide manipulations under adverse conditions. Additionally, the slide provides an ample 5.95-inch sight radius between the Battlesight rear sight and red fiber optic front sight. The bottom of the slide also features heavy machine chamfering to reduce sharp edges for a snag-free draw.

Where the SFT9 gets its upgrade is the addition of a two slot Picatinny rail on the frame, just forward the trigger guard. As a result, shooters can add the weapon light or laser of their choice.

Rounds are sent downrange via a 3.5-4.5-pound crisp trigger pull with Medium length lightweight pad and Concealment Bullet proof hammer. Correspondingly, each SFT9 Lightrail ships with two 15-round magazines. Reloads are consistent and reliable due to the inclusion of the Bullet Proof magazine release. Likewise, the Bullet Proof thumb safety provides safe handling of the SFT9 until you are ready to shoot.
