Seeing this device for the first time quickly reminded me that Vortex won the optic design for the Next Generation Squad Weapon-Fire Control (NGSW-FC) to the US Army. Having seen that optic firsthand, I suspect that they used some of the same ideas in this new Impact 4000. The Impact 4000 is an all-in-one range and ballistic problem solver that delivers point-and-shoot solutions without coming off the gun. This advanced, rail-mounted laser rangefinder provides you with range, ballistic, and weather data via the integrated GeoBallistics solver, and on-board environmental sensors.

Vortex’s patented Wind Bearing Capture Mode utilizes an on-board compass to capture wind direction. It also has a built-in Range Card Generator to create and store up to 10 range cards. The rangefinder proved intuitive to use as well as rugged and reliable. It solidly mounts to any Picatinny-style rail or rings with a diving board mount. Best of all, it functions in places your smartphone can’t for deadly speed and precision no matter where you are.
