Self-Defense Tip #113 — What Krav Maga Is Lacking….

[ad_1]

What Krav Maga is lacking …
but not only Krav Maga.

First watch a great demo of effective self-defense techniques by Krav Maga instructors from Defense Lab:

Now, what is lacking in the above demo and why….

Krav Maga is a military-style self-defense system based on Imre Lichtenfeld’s 1930’s and 1940’s street-fighting and military hand-to-hand combat experience. The street fighting was done in an era of no CCTV and no cellphones. So Krav Maga was formed in times and circumstances in which tactical effectiveness was the only concern. You, however, live in a different era–the era of ubiquitous video surveillance and criminal and civil liability. Now tactical effectiveness in fighting off an assault is not enough–you must be ready to defend yourself from the justice system. To put it briefly: Krav Maga’s winning techniques may win you the battle but lose you the war. To keep from losing the war, i.e., being convicted, you need to build deniability into your tactics.

The bottom line:
Practice whatever tactically effective system you like, be it Krav Maga or Kapap or some other, but look into ways of making at least your finishing moves deniable. For ideas see Self-Defense Tip #100 — Empty-Hand Defenses and Deniability.
