There’s something about sitting on a white porch swing on a warm day or cool evening, looking out and rocking as the sun rises and sets. Porch swings can be an excellent addition to any home, which is what led me down the path to finding the perfect one for my veranda.
In my search, I’ve rounded up some fantastic ideas for a white porch swing that’ll look amazing in your yard! Let’s dive right in.
Classic White Porch Swing Ideas
White porch swings are a classic for a reason. They are the perfect all-in-one seating for your porch, and they can quickly become a family spot, nap nest, or place to get some alone time.
Plus, there’s something incredibly soothing about rocking back and forth on one of these seats that makes being outdoors all the more pleasant.
1. Fanback Swingbed White Porch Swing
This gorgeous white porch swing doubles as a swing bed, which is excellent news for those among us who appreciate a good nap.
It has an oversized seat, so you can snuggle up and read a book, doodle, or play a game with family or friends.
It’s made of sturdy treated pine, which will last for years. Click on the image for more details.
2. Polywood® Vineyard 60″ White Porch Swing
Do your bit for the environment with this gorgeous Polywood porch swing, made from a proprietary blend of plastics, which includes recycled milk jugs and detergent bottles! It’s also made in the USA and doesn’t need painting, staining, waterproofing, or other maintenance.
It doesn’t splinter, peel, or crack and is easy to clean with simple soap and water. This is a super durable, gorgeous porch swing!
3. White Wicker Porch Swing
A white wicker porch swing is a true aesthetic statement that doesn’t stand out too much.
Most wicker porch swings are made of bamboo, willow, rattan, and reeds, so they are also much more eco-friendly than plastic ones, which is a win in my book.
Plus, you can find them in all sorts of patterns. One of my favorites is this International Caravan Furniture Wicker Hanging Loveseat Swing, which includes a sturdy construction with a gorgeous lozenge pattern on the backrest. This one’s also super easy to hang, so you can spend less time on installation and more time reclining!
4. Matching White Porch Swing and Rocking Chairs
If you want your patio to look like it’s on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens, you might want to consider getting some matching white rocking chairs to go with your porch swing.
A rocking chair like this Betterhood Presidential Rocking Chair pairs very well with this Christopher Knight Home Phoebe Outdoor Acacia Wood Porch Swing since they have matching slats, a rounded backpiece, and the same poly finish for supreme outdoor protection.
However, if you have a plain wood rocking chair, you could even use some white spray paint to make everything match on your porch. Add some coordinated cushions, and your seating options will look super stylish.
5. Slatted White Porch Swing With Roll-Seat
Roll-bottom porch swings will keep you from getting those annoying “dents” in your legs, helping you stay comfortable no matter how long you choose to sit on your white porch swing.
Roll bottoms can also help you get up after lounging, making them ideal for people with stiff joints – or those who choose to install their swings high up so their feet can dangle off.
This Outsunny Outsunny 46″ 2 Person Wooden Hanging Porch Swing Bench is an excellent pick if this is the look you’re going for.
It’s also got cupholders on the armrests, so you can stay put on your comfy porch swing as long as possible.
6. Flat Modern Wicker Porch Swing
Look at this stunner! A flat, backless, minimal wicker porch swing is the perfect addition to a flourishing garden or well-decorated porch since it won’t take too much attention.
Plus, it’s the ideal solution for people who want to lie on their white porch swings instead of sit. So, nap on – nothing can stop you from it when you have a porch swing that’s this comfy!
7. Hang Your White Porch Swing On a Tree
If you want your porch swing to really swing, this idea might be right up your alley. Hanging your porch swing from a tree will allow you to mount it higher and swing freely, unconstrained by your porch.
It feels like you’re floating mid-air – and, well, I suppose you actually will be!
One swing I’d recommend hanging from trees is this Best Choice Products 48in 3-Seater Hanging Porch Swing, a gorgeous outdoor white porch swing made from weather-resistant acacia wood. It also comes with a pair of 4-foot metal chains that are very durable, which is critical when you’re swinging from a tree limb! It’s also big enough for three so you can socialize and relax simultaneously.
8. Rollback Recycled Plastic Porch Swing
An eco-friendly recycled plastic porch swing is an excellent idea in and of itself, but add a rollback, and your porch will look fantastic and be ultra-comfortable.
Rollbacks remind me of those old-timey desks, giving them both a modern and nostalgic appeal that speaks to everyone.
However, aside from how pretty they are, they are also easy on your legs, prevent fall-throughs (like when you drop your book, phone, or snacks and they fall right through the slats), and have plenty of structural integrity.
During my search, I found this Luxcraft Rollback Recycled Porch Swing that seats two people comfortably, especially if you add a cushion. LuxCraft Ply is resistant to insects, splintering, warping, and moisture, perfect for any climate. It’s UV stabilized and proudly made in the USA.
I love this one because it’s virtually maintenance-free and has a limited lifetime warranty on residential use!
9. Rustic Ropes Porch Swing With Cupholders
If you want to keep your home looking like the farmhouse it is, check out this rustic, shabby-chic porch swing with ropes, a sturdy frame, and cupholders!
The eggshell blue looks incredible with the white cushions, but naturally, you can color-coordinate as you like. However, most importantly, this swing is comfortable!
A similar, and in my opinion, cooler version of this swing is this pressure-treated pine Amish Casual Heavy Duty Roll Back Porch Swing with Hanging Ropes and Cupholders. It has a very artesian-style appearance, and the cupholders, which project from the sides in little circular tables, look so cute!
It’s also one of the most durable swings I’ve seen, as it can hold up to 800 lbs. So, grab the whole family and swing away!
10. White Adirondack Porch Swing
Prefer some space between you when you’re relaxing on your porch swing? This Adirondack swing is the one for you! It has two separate backrests in the iconic Adirondack style, perfect for tilting your head back and dozing off or soaking up the sun.
This Adirondack-style porch swing, in specific, is one of my favorites. It has a cup holder and table in the middle, which I love for snacking, reading, and dining al fresco. It doesn’t just come in white – you can choose chestnut brown, dove grey, black, green, weather wood, and many other colors!
11. Classic Porch Swing
If you have already spent time and energy making your porch look beautiful, why let a swing take away from your decorating skills?
Adding a simple white porch swing to accentuate your trim or colors in your patio’s palette can make everything else pop, giving you a put-together porch that looks like it belongs in a magazine.
12. Montana Woodworks Rustic Lawn Swing
This rustic porch swing is so divine, I just had to include it. It’s made with chunky white pine to give your white porch swing a natural finish. Plus, it fits right in on any homestead!
Not just that, it’s a real pride to own a Montana Woodworks piece of furniture. Montana Woodworks specializes in rustic furniture, and each item is carefully crafted with high-quality wood. They use a method called round mortise and tenon joinery, which has been proven over 100s of years to be simple but super strong.
Each piece of furniture is hand-signed by the artisan who made it, which I love.

13. White Cedar Unstained Love Seat Swing
An authentic white cedar love swing, absolutely stunning! You can leave it as-is or coat it with a stain of your choice. It has a natural resistance to insects and decay, so you’ll get years of lovin’ out of this porch swing. Truly gorgeous.
14. Intricate Metal Swing
A metal porch swing with swirls and decorative features can frame your porch and garden, adding just a bit of elegance to almost anything!
There are also tons of unique patterns to choose from with metal, like flowers, birds, hearts, and just intricate swirls, which can add some subtle style to your porch.
15. Simple Small Swing
Aside from the benefit of being able to fit a smaller swing on cramped porches and patios, this cozy seat gives you just enough space to spread out when you are alone. It also makes a tight loveseat for cozying up with another person.
So, whether you want your own space or have too much of it, a little porch swing can deliver!
White Porch Swings With Gazebos and Arbors
If you want to put your porch swing out in your garden, choosing one with a built-in gazebo or trellis might be your best idea yet!
1. Treated Pine Starback Porch Swing
This is a very stylish porch swing! The stars in the seat backing are a nice touch, and it comes in various washes, including whitewash. Hang it on the porch with chains, or buy the frame separately and put it anywhere in the yard. It has a great matching frame, have a look:
Grow a gorgeous climbing plant over the arbor, preferably a fragrant one, so you’ll feel like you’re genuinely in heaven!
2. Outdoor Swing Arbor
This white porch swing is exactly what I wanted mine to look like – a scenic little swing parked right in the middle of a backyard jungle.
Hanging your white porch swing from an arbor, like this one, looks incredible and offers the opportunity to grow plants along your swing.
So, surround yourself with grapevines, ivy, passion flowers, wisteria, or morning glories as you enjoy the gentle rocking motion of your swing. There’s nothing better!
3. Vinyl Swing Arbor
Oh my! I adore this swing! This is a high-quality swing that holds up to 500 lbs.
You can get the arbor with ground or concrete anchors to secure it firmly and grow a gorgeous plant over the top.
It’s another swing that’s virtually maintenance-free. It just needs cleaning with soapy water now and then. It’s also made in the USA.
4. Vinyl and Poly-Lumber Gable Gazebo Swing
Possibly more of an in-front-of-the-porch-swing, but how beautiful is this! This porch swing has its own house, so you can put it anywhere and still be dry and out of the sun. You can choose different colors for the shingles, too.
Single-Seater White Porch Swings
Want to get away from it all for some alone time? Tired of people bugging you while you’re reading on your porch swing? Then, try one of these single-seaters!
1. Round Egg-Shaped White Porch Swing
Try something like this if you don’t have much space or want a little swing to hide away in. Round wicker cubby swings like these offer great back support, are easy to move, and are cozier than any other swing you’ll find anywhere!
A great example of an excellent egg-shaped porch swing is this Modway Hide Wicker Outdoor White Egg Swing, a beautiful white porch swing made in wicker.
It has a fluffy, luxurious padded cushion in more than seven colors. Plus, it comes with its own aluminum stand.
This is a great swing set for a corner of the porch, pergola, or indoors. It’s also suitable for all weather since the paint contains a tough protective coat that even the heaviest rains can’t penetrate.
2. White Macrame Porch Swing Hammock
This list wouldn’t be complete without a macrame hammock porch swing, and they don’t come much better than this. Hammock chairs are super easy to hang, fit anywhere, and are a very comfy seating option.
There’s a real bohemian vibe to a hammock swing chair, and kids love them too. They’re like a cocoon to snuggle up in.
I love this Sorbus Hammock Chair Macrame Swing since you can use it indoors and outdoors. It holds 265 lbs too!
3. White Netted Hammock Porch Swing
This take on a porch swing is fantastic! Not only are single-size hammock porch swings easy to install, but they are also easy to move. So, you can easily unhook it from your porch and move it inside for winter.
These white porch swings are also very affordable, which is excellent news if you are on a budget! If you want a great deal, I recommend picking something like this sturdy Hammaka Hammock Net Chair, which can hold up to 220 lbs.
DIY White Porch Swings
You can also make your own porch swing with a can of white spray paint and some creativity. DIY-ing is a great option if you are on a budget – or if you just like building things.
1. DIY Pallet Board Porch Swing by The Sorry Girls
This DIY pallet board porch swing is economical, easy to make, and can be any color – from white to fuschia to plain wood. This DIY is my top pick for anyone who wants a sturdy porch swing but doesn’t want to pay for one. However, you may need some nails and some elbow grease to get the job done.
2. DIY Porch Swing Bed by Royally Runway Ready
This plan for a porch swing bed is incredible! You can either use pre-cut wood or cut it yourself, and all you need are some eyelets, screws, and rope to get the job done. Add a mattress or cushion, and you have a comfy outdoor swing perfect for napping, reading, lounging, and spreading out with the whole family.
3. Classic DIY Porch Swing by pine + poplar
This classic, sturdy porch swing only takes some pre-cut wood to make, and it looks professional! It’s also quite versatile, and you can easily change the length, substitute pine wood for something sturdier, and customize the paint job.
Aside from that, the guide for this job is straightforward to follow, and it only takes a few hours to put it together.
What To Look For In a White Porch Swing
When I started shopping for my perfect porch swing, I had no idea what I wanted. However, as I started getting serious about my purchase, I realized that much of what I was looking at wouldn’t logistically work out.
So, to help you avoid making the mistakes I’ve made, let’s look at some considerations you might want to keep in mind when browsing.
The Right Materials For Your Taste and Weather
While choosing between iron, wood, plastic, and wicker mostly boils down to taste, you’ll also need to consider the humidity in your area.
For example, I live in a very humid place, and I’ve been through two wrought iron porch swings and one wooden one. Each time, the iron swings rusted, and the wooden one got so swollen in the humid summer that it broke.
One of the benefits of a white porch swing is that the white paint can help seal the wood, metal, or wicker, protecting it from water damage. However, when shopping, ensure that the paint will withstand years of humid conditions and weather.
If you live in a wet climate, you might consider sealing up a wood or metal porch swing with some spray-on sealant or opt for a plastic one. I find recycled plastic porch swings do very well in my area.
Appearance and Size
You’ll want to choose a porch swing that fits your taste. After all, if you get the right one, it will last you for many years.
However, you’ll also need to consider where your swing will fit on your porch, patio, or veranda and how much space you’ll still need to get around the swing.
It would be best if you also considered vertical clearance. If the swing is too large to fit well on your porch, you’ll be crouched down with your feet on the ground, unable to swing.
