BIOLITE CAMPSTOVE 2 – Review
This thing turns fire into electricity! The fuel source is wood, so there’s no need to carry around fuel canisters. We were able to cook our stew with a small pile of beach twigs and pieces of coconut which took less 2 minute to collect. If you’ve ever camped on a beach, you know sometimes it’s a tedious task to collect enough dry firewood to start a fire to cook with. This drastically dropped the amount of time spent collecting wood.
The CampStove 2 generates 3 watts of usable electricity and stores it in it’s internal powerbank for USB charging of LED lights, mobile phones, and other devices. The internal, rechargeable 2600 mAh battery stores excess power to charge devices, even without a live fire. However, the primary purpose on the battery is to run the fan. Internal jets have 4 fan speed settings to circulate air for improved combustion and efficiency to boil 1 liter of water in less than 5 minutes. It comes with a flexible USB goose-neck light. (Makes camp cooking in the dark so much easier!)
It weighs about 935 grams. However, since you don’t have to carry a fuel source with you and it doubles as a USB powerback it’s not bad at all. I got the Biolite Campstove 2 bundle which came with a grill and thermos. So far it’s done us well. I look forward to running it through the paces to asses durability.
