The Grocery Row Garden system did very well in 2021, so I am putting in a new one so I can demonstrate the method again for those that haven’t gotten the concept yet.
We took two of our rutabaga beds, harvested the rutabagas, then combined them into a single Grocery Row Garden.
I’ll post the video soon – we’re recording the second half of it this evening. We have the trees planted, now we just need to plant some vegetables and put down mulch.
I know it’s strange to be planting long-term perennials and trees on a rental property, but I don’t really have another option at this point. We are looking for our own homestead, but I cannot stop gardening and planting trees just because we may move within a year or two. If I did, I wouldn’t have any content for YouTube or this blog. Or for my book writing. Sometimes people ask, “why are you planting trees there – it’s a rental?” That’s why. I cannot stop, because teaching gardening is my profession. If someone else ends up with the gardens, so be it! I would love to be planting trees on our own land but that hasn’t happened yet. It’s in God’s hands, and He has taken marvelous care of us so far.
We’ve come to love this area and Atmore in particular. I would like to stay, and I look forward to seeing where God plants us.
