The Great South Florida Food Forest – Wandering Ground Cover!

[ad_1]

We visited my Mom in sunny Ft. Lauderdale and got a chance to check in on The Great South Florida Food Forest Project this week.

It’s a beautiful mess right now, with lots of food and life, even though some of the proper food forest layers are lacking. We’re rather short on useful and edible shrubs and ground cover, however, nature has filled in the gaps on her own.

At some point, some Tradescantia zebrina, AKA purple “Wandering Jew,” made its way in and now covers the forest floor.

I’ll post a bunch of pictures of the entire system soon. Today I’m headed out to a nursery to hunt for some dwarf coconut palms.
