Here is a sinew harvesting tutorial based on a couple requests I received after shooting my first two deer this season. I’ll admit I was a bit new to it myself at first, having only taken up traditional archery recently; however, by my third deer this year I was ready to make a tutorial on it.

The sinew from the backstraps is long and paper-thin. It makes great backing material for selfbows, and the strands work well for reinforcing self-nocks and tying fletchings and points to wood or bamboo arrows. The leg sinew is shorter, but when dried and processed can still be useful as cordage for reinforcing nocks, tying points, etc.
